I love beef!!! Burger is one type of food which I crave every now and then... When I heard that Johnny Rockets is now open, I scheduled one Sunday with my family to eat
real American burgers!

Sadly, I was disappointed...
First, the queue... The receptionist outside wasn't friendly enough... When I approached her, she looked really tired and almost discouraged me of dining in... I thought maybe her facial expression is just not too inviting... She said, ma'am, you have to wait for your table, and you're number 7 on the list... I asked, how long will be the waiting time? She said, (with sour-looking face) about 30-45 minutes... So I said, ok, we'll wait... Anyway, it was just 6pm that time, I thought I still have time to go to Office Warehouse... My kids played by the park, watched very cute dogs walking...

I was so engrossed watching the dogs when I noticed that the receptionists of
Johnny Rockets were also dancing while the queue was getting longer and longer...

I got irritated by that... They thought it was cute... But I had goosebumps watching them...
Anyway, we were seated 20 minutes after... The menu was simple... I think their food selection is not too overwhelming. I asked our server what their best seller is and she referred the #12 Burger... It's called Number 12 because according to their history, when their burgers were rated 1-10, 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest grade, the judge gave them a 12! Ok, that's convincing enough... So I tried it...

It comes with a siding, you can choose either French Fries or Garden Salad... I chose the salad since most of them ordered fries already... The prices on their menu ranges from P285.00 - P585.00. I don't recall seeing below P200.00 on the main course list..

The taste... It's charbroiled, but, tasteless... I had to put a lot of ketchup to make my food likeable... So I think that the Number 12 is overrated... I'd give it a 4...

The music by the way is Rock N' Roll... Very American... I thought it's the appropriate theme for the restaurant... But while I was trying to enjoy my ketchup-loaded burger, they played "Last Dance" by Donna Summer... I thought, hmmmm, this is not Rock n' Roll...
Probably from 70's or early 80's era...

But the music was too loud, and the staff were shouting...
That's when I noticed that the waiters and waitresses were
doing a choreographed dance number...

Yikes... I like NOT!

We also ordered super tasteless onion rings...

I bet those were the artificial ones sold in frozen boxes...

But I liked their Chili Fries... Loved the taste of beef and chili,
with cheese and onions on the side...
This is the only food that I appreciated at Johnny Rockets...

The bill...

Here's what we ordered: (6 adults and 2 kids)

1 original soy burger

1 original Johnny Rockets burger with cheese

1 number 12

1 philly cheese steak (sucks)

1 chicken tenders (not so tender)

1 chicken tenders for kids

1 burger meal for kids
1 chili fries
1 onion rings
1 strawberry milkshake

1 chocolate milkshake

1 mocha fudge milkshake

1 perfect brownie sundae

To the tune of: P4,323.00

I think it's really expensive...

When we left the restaurant, 4 people in front of me (also ate there) were asking themselves if they liked the food, yes, pardon my eavesdropping - can't help...
One of them said, I will never go back to that place again...

Now, the question is, will I???

Sorry, but, my answer is...

No way!!!

I just have to re-post this.  I definitely agree.  Bravo, Mr. Joey De Leon!

(The Philippine Star) Updated August 09, 2009 12:00 AM

The funeral cortege of former Pres. Cory Aquino: My tears came
naturally

MANILA, Philippines -

* * *

Marami ang nalungkot sa iyong pagyao,
Magalang ang lahat at puno ng respeto,
Nagpasalamat pa nga Kapamilya sa 'yo,
Dahil kanilang himpilan naibalik mo.

* * *

Subalit ano itong nabalitaan ko?
Nangyari noong Lunes, a-tres ng Agosto,
Habang inililipat ang mga labi mo,
Ika'y parang nabastos sa isang TV show.

* * *

At 'di maaalis sa iyong pag-iisip,
Ang parada ng patay ang pinaliligpit!
At dagdag pa daw ng naghahari-harian,
"I don't think na dapat n'yong ipakita iyan..."
Nasaan naman ang paggalang, o nasaan?
Mga sinasabi natin minsa'y pag-ingatan.

* * *

At 'di pa nangimi nang sumunod na araw,
Pinilit pa ring ginawa n'ya ay tama raw,
Mga nakarinig 'di na nakagalaw
At ayon sa iba sila na la'y napa-wow!

* * *

"... Pero ako, totoo 'ko eh ... ", sabi kuno,
Totoo nga at totoo ring walang modo,
Pwede namang sabihin itong pa-sikreto,
Kaya't wala na rin mga paliwanag mo.

* * *

"Kung ganyan, pakita na lang 'yan!", ang hamon pa,
Para bang ang prusisyon nila-"lang - lang" lang ba,
Ang pangasiwaan ay pinapili pa n'ya,
Sumunod ang himpilan, nung August 5 wala s'ya.

* * *

May mga komentong pwede nang pang-harapan,
"On camera" baga sa TV ang tawag d'yan
At kung sensitibo man ang gustong bitawan,
Pagpasok ng commercial, hintayin mo na lang.

* * *

Matutong magbaba muna ng mikropono
At saka idikta lahat ng iyong gusto,
Lagi kang mataas lahat daw takot sa 'yo,
Ratings lang ang mababa - totoo ba ito?

* * *

The breaking news breaks your heart - at 'yan ang bawi mo,

* * *

Ang sabi ng iba - istupidong mayabang,
At giit ng iba - istupidong mayaman,
Mayaman man o mayabang ang tiyak diyan,
Napakayaman n'ya sa kaistupiduhan.

* * *

Buti pa ang apat na honor guards ni Cory -
Sina Malab, Laguindan, Rodriguez, Cadiente,
Walong oras tumayo sa ulan at viaje,
Ang lahat ay tiniis at walang sinabi.

* * *

Samantalang ikaw na may bubong sa ulo,
Komportable ka lang sa malamig na studio,
Nang kapirasong libing sa TV sumalo,
Angal at inis ang sumambulat sa iyo.

* * *

Maaari din namang pabayaan na s'ya,
Subalit ang nangyari'y mabigat talaga,
Namayapang pangulo'y huling paalam na,
'Di mo pa pinagbigyan ... hoy, nag-iisa ka!

* * *

At nais ko lang sabihin at ipagyabang
Sa mahigit na s'yam na libong tanghalian,
Sa limang pangulong sa Bulaga'y dumaan,
Kahit isa wala kaming nilapastangan

Nagmamahal,

Joey De Leon

I started using Revitalash "Eyelash Conditioner" last May 9, 2009. I haven't consumed the whole bottle yet.  I think I could probably finish up the contents until the end of August...

What I've noticed:

1.  During the first week, I noticed that my eyes became darker. No, not the racoon type, but, the smudged/smeared eyeliner effect...  I actually didn't like it because it made me look haggard.

2.  By the end of the first week, I noticed that the lower lashes started growing.

3.  On the 2nd month, no one notices my longer lashes except myself.

4.  By the end of the 2nd month, which is the present time, people began asking me if I am wearing eye make up.

The Verdict:

Yes, Revitalash is effective.  But it takes a lot of patience and determination to religiously apply the solution to your eyelids.

Many of my friends find it impossible to do this religiously.  It is because they don't have facial regimens before going to bed.  Unlike me, I regularly apply moisturizer every night and I make Revitalash application as my final step.

Here are some before and after pics of my lashes...

AFTER

I think what they want me to understand is that, Tokyo Cafe - is an Italian Restaurant in Tokyo...

The restaurant is very clean, has nice lighting, with white tables and chairs...  One wall displays a black and white picture of Milan (i think).  Their menu outside the restaurant looked really tempting.  Product photography really does a great job...

Here are some samples of what I'm talking about...
(Sorry for my blurry photos)...

Check out their prices!  Gambas for 240 pesos???  Again, apologies for the blurry photos, no SLR that time but too precious to waste, so had to make do with my camera phone...

And now, for the real thing...  Here's what we ordered:

Creamy Shrimp Spaghetti

Not too rich, but generous serving of shrimp!  Lovettt!!!

Salpicao

Lots of garlic and the beef is tender...

Gambas

At 240 pesos???  I couldn't ask for more...

Pizza A must try!!!
Now this pizza is reallllllly good...  It's a thin crust pizza with fresh tomato sauce!

Not on photo:

6 cups of Japanese Rice
1 Burger Steak
Though I wouldn't recommend it since it is not as spectacular as it was described in their menu...
Not too far from Jollibee's burger steak actually....

1 Frozen Tiramisu
Tasteless, not good...  Don't order!

Guess how much our bill was!?!?!

P1,495.00

I was really shocked when I saw the bill...  Checked it and it was pretty clear...  No discounts, freebies, whatsoever...  Their food is just simply cheap!!!

Am i coming back???

I already did...  Ordered the pizza again!

Tokyo Cafe is located at the Ground Floor of
The Block (SM North Edsa) near Bread Talk

(Sorry if this post is longggg overdue...)

Just to treat the kids for a day...  Anyway it was Fonzie's 2nd birthday last June 25, party-less.  I brought them to Festival Mall's Pixie Forest.  I had no choice, I think this is the only mall that has indoor amusement center, with the roller coasters, trains, etc...  I miss the one in Robinson's Galleria, wish they didn't close it.  I actually forgot its name...

After a whole day of rides, we had dinner at Union Jack Tavern...

It was referred by Miss B.  It is an English Pub, with a small deli at the back of the restaurant...

I loved the Fish, (Dory) and I especially liked the Green Peas (mushy green thing) right there!  It may not look too cute but it tastes real good!   The beef pie, which they highly recommend is also good...
I liked the crust.  The mashed potato is thumbs down
(tastes like instant mashed 'tatoes)...

I haven't had the time to thank all of you for the wonderful gifts you gave me...  Each and everyone of you gave me something that I would truly use!!!
You guys know me so well...
Thank you very much!!!

But this afternoon, I received another gift...  Was really wondering why my DS didn't give me anything on my birthday...  But I was too shy to ask her coz' I know it's kinda' impolite right???

Anyway, I didn't expect a gift from her anymore...  She gives me little things every now and then, treats me often, gives me clothes she can't wear, make up she can't use, bags she doesn't want, food she can't eat, everything!!!  I know you guys know how she is to me...  So I never had the courage to ask her for any gift because that would only magnify how "spoiled" i am!!!  (brat)

But still, she gave me this...

I was so surprised, I nearly cried...

This is my dream...

I find it hard using the mini laptop's pad...

How come she read my mind???  Are we that close that she's always right with the things that I want????

Thank you Dear Sister...  Thank you for everything...

"A women who doesn't wear perfume has no future."

- Coco Chanel

I believe that scents are one of our most powerful senses. The smell of perfume or cologne can bring you back to a time and place.  I love the scent of Love in White by Oliver Creed.

As he said, the bottle evokes "the shoulders of a feminine figure as she rests upon white sands caressed by the ocean's gentle current. A silver ribbon at the neck conveys sunshine dancing on the Aegean sea".

It has been formulated since 2005 and the premiere bottle of the scent was given by Creed to actress and goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees,
Angelina Jolie.  I promised myself I'll forever have a bottle of this favorite scent of mine...

Thank you my dear cousins for this lovely present...
It shall forever bring back all of our good times together...

I know it's cheesy...  Overused, passe, corny...  I remember we did an 80's party 5 years ago, and yet, I would love to do it again and again...  Let's just say that I am an 80's girl and that I've become what I am now because of what the 80's has done to me...

During the 80's, I've learned to love music...  That was the time when all I wanted to do was tape (record) (read:  casette tape TDK 60 minutes)  some songs that I've heard from parties at Corinthian clubhouse or Valle Verde Clubhouse, and from my cousin who loves music also...

We had to ask some
friends who were friends of friends of the Audio Venture, Social Distortion, Forsc Inc, (famous party mobiles) and so on...  I don't know if you guys are familiar with mobiles...  They were the people responsible to the party's lighting and sounds...  A group of DJs with equipment, so to speak...  And they weren't using CD's...  They used records and lots of turntables, strobe lights, laser lights (pag matindi ang mobile) and mirror ball (if cheapo, hahaha)...  Gosh, I'm so old...  Anyways, i'm having fun just telling you all about my precious teen years...

Since I am now, entering the phase of the last quarter of my life (hope not), I decided to celebrate it reminiscing the most enjoyable time of my life...

So, here it goes...

My cousin Gary (he provided me with fresh new music in the 80's - faves were Depeche Mode,
Lotus Eaters, The Pale Fountains, etc.)

My sister who helped me dress up during the 80's...  During that time, I used to buy clothes from
Triangle and Esprit at Cinderella...

I prepared little somethings for the guests who would come
in impressive 80's outfits...
Made the date June 5, 1988 (feeling debutante).

The Winners:

Gary - the Strutter
Beng - Madonna

I can't believe this man's effort:  He really had to be baduy!!!

We danced the whole night, up until 2am...
It was a different Friday night for us since we all were
dressed up and listened to 80's music...

Up to now, I am still happy...  Still smiling...
I never
regret spending an 80's party with my friends even though many
people find it so (baduy) passe and cheesy...

I thank everyone, for taking the time to text me, PM me, YM me, email me, call me,
and  of course, my family, my Friday Club,
thank you for making my day very, very happy....

Here are some highlights of the event:

The Girls

The Boys

The Footloose Dance

Rico Mambo Dance

Funk

My favorite cake from Costa Brava

I'm 40!!!

Dance of the winning couple

If you're gonna ask me:

Would I celebrate my birthday again doing the 80's theme???

My answer would be:

I'm thinking of celebrating it yearly with the same theme over and over again...

Thank you everyone for the greetings!!!

No gowns this time...

The Gossip Girl cast looked so hot....
Or maybe, Summery and Sexy...

I like Blake's revealing jumpsuit...
She looked so sexy and the color looks good on her...

Leighton surely pulled off this masculine suit
with black shorts and sexy pumps!!!

Jessica Szohr looked comfy and sophisticated
with this colored assymetrical dress...

Taylor dressed up like her character lil' Jenny but I think she looked a little mature with this ensemble...
I don't know, probably her lipstick???

But these two gentlemen really sizzled the list...
They're the hottest!!!

At last, I finally got a hold of this so-called eyelash vitamin...  It's Revitalash...

I was able to take pictures of my lashes before using
Revitalash...
Pardon me for these odd pictures, I used my camera phone...

I started putting on Revitalash last May 9, 2009...

At exactly two weeks, I noticed that my lower lashes became longer, especially on the inner eye area...  But I'll give it another 2 weeks for a fuller effect before posting pictures...

I just hope that this is the solution to my lash problem...

For more than a month, I've been taking care of Fonzie's burn...  Yes, he had a 2nd degree burn on his right thigh...  I was having second thoughts on posting this because it reminds me of how bad I felt when I first saw it...  But since this is supposed to be my journal, I decided to post it and show everyone how bad it was...  This happened last February 20, 2009...

This was taken an hour after the accident (or incident)... Whether the yaya did this on purpose or not was still a mystery to us...

Worse became worst days after...  I tried taking pictures but the burn was covered with medicine (Flammazine)...

For a week, Fonzie was slow, weak, but he never cried...  He was so strong...  He was down with fever and colds when this happened...  So he was given nasal decongestants, paracetamol, and antibiotics...  Then add the pain caused by the burn, could you just imagine how bad he felt???

Last Sunday, a month after, I took the kids to Power Plant Mall...  It was Fonzie's first day out after the accident...  He was so happy and high, that he went to bed 1am that night...

Here's what happened during their Day Out...

I'm just happy to say that Fonzie is now doing well and has completely recovered...  The wound is now completely gone, but the skin has a slight discoloration...  Right now, I am applying an ointment that could help the scar disappear...  Hopefully it will...

I thank the Lord Jesus, for helping us go through it all...

My kids love pictures...  Whenever Fonzie sees his story book photo album, he would stop, look at his pictures, page by page...

I placed it on the center table, in my living room, as a coffee table book...  I noticed my friends looking at it and telling me how beautiful the story book is...  Unique, touching, beautiful, and inexpensive...

I thought of it, and came up with the idea of making my own
Coffee Table Book...

But I want to make different books for different phases of my life...

Something that can make me feel happy and contented...

Something to remind of my favorite places on Earth...

Something that can make me look back - so I can go forth...

And I'll call them, My Life in Pages...

I love Lara Spencer!!!  She looks so good on her dresses, love her poise, her posture, her face, everything!!!

Then, I heard the news about this new show on Philippine Television:

I miss Sunday Brunch...  We used to have this weekly about 2 or 3 years ago...  Me and my 2 sisters plan every Saturday as to where we're going to have our Sunday Brunch...  Hayyyy.... Those were the days....

Last Saturday, Marnie and I were planning our Sunday escapade...  We planned to wake up early the next day, have brunch at some quiet restaurant where we can eat good food and not spend a fortune, and then spend the rest of the day at the salon...  We thought of all the restaurants in Shang, and then Marnie suggested Dome Cafe...  This place has always been our coffee and dessert place, but this time, we will try their real meals...

I had Cheese Sausages with Garlic Rice, (it is originally served with french fries, but I asked the server to give me garlic rice instead, hello Mega Carbo!).

My gosh, I am getting hungry posting this - I can still remember how it tastes, and only God knows how much I want to eat that very same meal at this moment...

Marnie had pork chops...  They're tender, cooked to perfection...

Oh, and I noticed that their garlic rice is really good!!!  I don't know if it has a different ingredient or what, but it tastes really good...  I can't do that at home...

Their Capuccino, as Marnie mentioned, "The best Capuccino in Manila"...  She loved it so much that she forgot to take pictures of her drink...

We spent around P850 Pesos, total, including taxes and service charge...

Now I'm gonna mark my calendar and take note of our next brunch at Dome...

Before, we seldom see ladies in the streets, all dressed up carrying their dogs or pets...  But now, we can't even stop them, some can't even leave their home without their pets, they want to be with them in the parks, malls, coffee places, or even bars...

I just hope that they're like the Hollywood peeps who walk their dogs, and carry plastic poop collectors for them to clean up...

Or maybe we should put up signs like these:

or like this one:

then they can get a Poop Scooper and put them inside these Poo Collectors

Thanks to all, for the gift of friendship, love, and understanding...  It has been a wonderful and challenging year for me, especially during the last quarter.  Year 2008 ended with a maximum gust blast for me, but it ended well and need not to be pointed out anyway...

I've been on vacation this holiday season and having fun time with the kids...  I can't believe how time flies and how big my baby boy has grown...

Fonzie is now 1 year and 6 months old...

His words are:

Hotdog - pertaining to Mickey Mouse (Playhouse Disney's Song - Hotdog, hotdog, hot diggity dog)

Mama - I think he's pertaining to me

Hip, hip, Addu!!!!  - pertaining to "hip, hip, hurray"

Wowwww - when he sees something nice, like, Wow!

Ats - pertaining to his Achie Cassie

So far, I must say that he has "very little" vocabulary...  Especially when compared to Cassie...  Sadly, I wasn't an internet addict when Cassie was in her growing years...  But I promised myself that I'll upload her growing years video on You Tube sometime...

Maybe she'll thank me for that in the future...

Meanwhile, here's Fonzie...

Happy 2009 Everyone!!!

It's Friday once again...  It has been a tiring, challenging week for our family...  But we managed to surpass everything...  This morning, as I was getting ready to face another day, I received this email...  It made me cry...  Humbled me...   Now, I have got so many things to be thankful for...  For being one of the Luckiest Persons on Earth falls number 1 on my list... Whatever emotions I had watching this video is unexplainable...  It might be depressing, yet powerful...  It might be heartbreaking, but heartwarming...  I may have seen emptiness but I felt fulfillment... Just sharing...

From Pedro San Diego Silo:

Hey, everybody!I am about to share to you a humbling experience I had a few days ago.  As you well know, I am an avid, amateur photographer who shoots whatever pleases my eyes.  I joined, administer and moderate a few local and international groups on Flickr.  Most are very supportive and and inspiring.  One particular local group, "Photo Kalye"  ( http://flickr.com/groups/photo_kalye/ ), a group intent on documenting life in the streets,  organized it's first photowalk.  I am not too keen on joining such "walks", but on this one, my fellow admin, Jon Fabrigar, was persistent.  He must have seen my previous work on "street" and thought it was an interest to me.  It was and still is one of my passions to document our street, but nothing prepared me for what I was about to witness...  This might take a few of your precious time, but i'm sure it will be worth your while.
